The Guardian and London School of Economics Reading the Riots Study in 2012: Supporting Community Conversations on the Riots across England.
Social Action & Research Foundation hosted the Manchester and Salford Community Conversations. This involved the participation of well over two-hundred members from all sections of the community as well as senior representatives from the local authorities and Greater Manchester Police. The evenings involved constructive debate about the causes of the August riots and also, began the discussion about what needs to be done to address these problems. The consensus amongst all present was that the causes were complex, and the solutions need to be also.
SARF has produced The Tale of Two Cities report building upon extensive engagement with a diverse range of partners to create recommendations to strengthen and develop existing structures in order to bring positive, long-term and cost-effective solutions. The measures outlined will seek to create communities that are better able to adapt, transform and deal with challenges as they arise.
